Certification System and Types of Certificates

Certification system and -programs

The PEHLA Certification system consists of four certification programs:

  • Type A program: Type testing (without monitoring),
  • Type B program: Type testing and routine testing (without monitoring),
  • Type C program: Type testing, routine testing and design/constructon (without monitoring),
  • Type D program: Type testing, routine testing and design/constructon (with monitoring),

which certify the conformity of the product to the standards in accordance with the specified reference standards to varying degrees.

The Type A program confirms by “Certificate of Conformity of Type Tests” the conformity of the type tests at the time the certificate is issued. This concerns:

  • the design values listed in the certificate, and verified,
  • the completeness and conformity of the type tests
  • the identity and consistency of the type test objects.

The Type A “Certificate of Conformity“ does not apply to products of the same type or design which are manufactured subsequently. This proof is still the manufacturers’ responsibility in the form of their conformity confirmation for their customers ("Declaration of Conformity" according to ISO/IEC 17050-1, as First-Party Conformity Assessment).

In addition to Type A, the Type B program also confirms by “Certificate of Conformity of Type Tests and Routine Tests” the conformity of the routine tests for the product at the time the certificate is issued.

In addition to Type B, the Type C program also confirms by “Product Certificate (not monitored)” the conformity of the product with regard to the product standards’ requirements regarding design and construction at the time the certificate is issued.

In addition to Type C, the Type D Program also confirms by “Product Certificate (monitored)” the validity of conformity with regard to all conformity features for the current product, i.e. also for products of the same type manufactured subsequently, via monitoring by PEHLA product certification body.
The validity period of the Type D “Product Certificate” is 5 years starting at the time the certificate is issued.
